Going Solo Vocal Workshop

10 February 2018 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

1-Day Vocal Workshop with Morag McLaren

As a professional singer herself, Morag McLaren understands only too well the importance of presentation and performance skills, and shares her knowledge and experience with warmth and generosity in a structured and supportive environment. This is the 6th year running for this popular course and is open to former participants and absolute newcomers, all of whom will be encouraged to gain skills and confidence when singing alone, accompanied by James Finbow on piano.

Perhaps you have always been part of the chorus, never the soloist; sing happily in the comfort of your own home but need some skills to perform in public or are an established performer wishing to hone and polish both singing and performance skills? Maybe you just fancy “giving it a go?!” – whatever the reason, former students find Morag’s infectious enthusiasm for singing inspiring and vital for improving their skills. From opera to jazz, folk to rock, Morag gives complete support to help you find your voice. You come along with a familiar piece of music to work on…and away you go! With a maximum of 9 students, there will be plenty of one to one support as well as group exercises to work through.

Cooper Hall is a stunning and supportive environment for students and performers alike – there is a warm and welcoming team and this particular workshop also brings the opportunity to sing accompanied by pianist, James Finbow on the hall’s Steinway piano, which is a rare treat for any performer!

At the end of what will be a very rewarding and productive day, a short, informal presentation is given by participants to an invited audience of family and friends.
